River Eden Sustainability Partnership

The River Eden runs about 48 kilometres through Fife, from the county boundary near Burnside out to the estuary at Guardbridge, passing Strathmiglo, Auchtermuchty and Cupar on the way. The Sustainability Partnership brings together Sustainable Cupar, the Eden Angling Association, Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, Fife Council and the University of St Andrews, working on biodiversity, invasive species and how well the catchment stands up to a changing climate.

At ten minutes and forty seconds this is the longest of the three films, and the length follows the subject. A partnership is several organisations with different reasons for being involved and different stretches of the same river, and a shorter cut would have had to choose one of them and drop the rest. The Partnership wanted the whole thing on record.

Fife is flatter, more farmed and more populated than the ground in the other two films, which makes the river harder to see and easier to overlook. Most of the aerial work exists to solve that, showing a corridor that is continuous from source to sea even where it disappears behind a field edge. I filmed and edited it.
