Team Development Day with SOLVD

A team effectiveness day is mostly people thinking, which is not obviously cinematic. There is no finish line and no product at the end, only a group that works together slightly differently afterwards than it did that morning.

Filming it means accepting that the important moments are unannounced. The useful frame is rarely the exercise itself and more often the pause after it, when somebody says the thing they had not planned to say. That cannot be directed, so the work is to be in position and running before it happens, which in practice means shooting a great deal more than will ever be used.

The film runs to three minutes and eleven seconds and follows a single day with the team from SOLVD, rather than assembling a highlights reel from several. One day told properly is more persuasive to a prospective client than a montage of many, because a prospective client is trying to picture their own team in it.
